I created a blogspot blog just to have a place to separate out the photos. That way I sort of have a place I can direct prospective clients to see my work. I'm not thrilled with it's making things square on some of them but I will hopefully figure that issue out lol

http://moonanstars.blogspot.com

Subscribe and make me feel like I have someone looking at the stuff lol.

ETA: changed focus midstream and now it's not just a place to store photos it's a good place to showcase some of the stuff for [info]littledrow and I are doing

Our HoJos - which was really nice btw - had replaced their restaurant with the Old Town Liquor store instead. Which was REALLY well air conditioned so even though I didn't buy anything there after walking to the Ripley's museum and coming back steaming we went in to browse and cool off.

Note the BEER CAVE on the sign

So I am slack about posting my pictures lol. St Augustine was extremely fun last weekend. So much fun in fact it's probably a bad thing it's only 2 1/2 hours away because I spent way too much while we were there. But there are things like the Fountain of Youth I won't feel like I have to go back to again lol.

I wanted to live in this house

The boy went to school all week and seemed all better. He had a great time on Saturday at the party and seemed fine after. Last night he came home from the memorial for his granddad and wrapped up in a blanket. Figured, he's tired and he had got a little sad at the memorial so he's in comfort mode.

Then he comes and lays on me and is just radiating heat again.

Dang it.

So he's out of school again today after only being back in a week. This is the kid that missed ONE day last year and he's going on his 7th day of absence for the quarter. I'll have to see if they can get him back into the doctors again.

For those of you from here note the St Joseph's/Candler sign in the background of the restaurant on DeRenne.

So Sunday morning the boy came home with Jane after spending the night and lay against me on the couch and I said holy heck you're hot do you have a sunburn? Since he said no I took his temp and it was 103 yay. Kid motrin was had and juice was pretty much all he'd drink/eat since his throat hurt. The fever went down with the medicine but kept going back up yay viral stuff.

Monday no school since he was around 102 even after being out of bed a while and he sacked out on the couch all day. It was the same this morning poor guy. I called his school to get his homework both days so at least he could work on it a little and try to keep up and they're all 'oh yeah we have several cases of flu here'. Hopefully they meant the seasonal and not the H1N1 but time for a doctor's appointment I guess to get him a doctor's note and a once over just in case.

Yippee.

Normally he's the healthiest kid in school lol he was out one day last year because of being sick. This year he's not doing as well. At least it's first grade and should be okay once he gets back int he swing of it all.

Okay once my sister and I were watching Jeopardy and there was a guy with this weird hair. And we stared at it through the whole show going WTF is wrong with his head? Turned out he'd only this little fringe at the very back and he'd let it grow out, combed it up, stuck it to his head and trimmed it in the shape of a hairline. That was the worst hair ever...until now.

The Friday before a three day weekend really is boring as hell at work. No dentist in the world is actually working today and most of them actually left about halfway through the day on Wednesday. So we have like 5 people on hand and not really a lot of calls coming in. The phones have been open for 2.5 hours and we have 83 calls which is about 40 calls an hour (works out to about 6 calls an hour per CSR). Usually we have over 700 calls by the end of 8 hours which is more like 80-90 calls an hour. And things tend to decelerate madly after lunch on a Friday. I foresee some bored CSRs later.

Anyway I was trying to mull over doing some fan fic type writing and can't decide what I want to do. My main thought is a continuation or revamp of the Batman/Lex Luthor stuff I was doing a while back but actually fleshing it out to have a story arc from start to finish. The main problem is I don't know if anyone would want to read it. I am a whore for approval or at least feedback on stories and if no one wants to read it I'm not sure it's worth it lol.

But I can't come up with another one I'd really like to do. What I should do is work on the idea I've had for a long time with several of my RP characters that have become basically full on people in my head but I tend to go eeeeeeeeee and hide when it comes to something fully original.

*sigh*

I'll keep thinking about it.

ETA - 4 hours into the phones being active we have 140 calls = 35 per hour so still about 6 per hour per person. I'm interested to see how this will look at about 2 pm

Cats
My cat has decided she’s the other woman in the marriage. Seriously, she’s gotten to the point where Phil can’t sit down without her jumping up into his lap to curl up and sleep. It doesn’t matter if he’s already got something there or heaven forbid he has his hands full of hot food, the second he sits down boom she’s in his lap. If he’s working on his models and there’s no room for her with him at the desk she gets up on a bookshelf to watch for the first opportunity to pounce.

She’s always been more his cat than mine even if I rescued her from the shelter and adopted her. Actually, she was kind of a mutual cat when we first got her and my other cat Ninja was all mine and had always been that way since I adopted him in school in New Jersey.

Then I made the mistake of having a kid and they both looked at me like the loud thing was all my fault. Cat’s really don’t listen to logic or have much of a grasp of biology so swearing to them that Phil had a part in it didn’t really impress them much. I probably should have known Ninja was going to hold it against me as soon as he started trying to sleep in the baby crib when it was set up in what was going to be Liam’s room. I expect an older sibling to regress and try to sleep in the baby crib for attention but the cat?

Anyway, right after I came home from the hospital with the boy both the cats decided I sucked for upsetting their routine and neither one of them really had much to do with me after that. I’m sure being the one who had to hold Oshin down and shave the mats out of her hair had nothing to do with her avoiding me. Really.

Now she runs to the front window as soon as she hears the car coming and meows LOUDLY at the window like a dog barking to welcome people home. I always know when he’s about a block or two down the road because the frantic kitty greeting starts. Then as soon as he walks through the door she has to throw herself in front of him and rub on his legs as if thanking him for delivering her from having to stay at home with me.

Of course when I get home if I’m lucky I might get a bleary yawn and dismissal with the kitty equivalent of ‘oh it’s just you’ before she goes back to napping.

Now she’s started to try to push her way in between us when we’re sitting down or if he’s trying to rub the tennis knots out of my shoulder she’ll keep pawing at his arm like she’s demanding he stop paying attention to the other woman. This goes on until I get up for something then she’s back in his lap.

How sad is it when the competition weighs 8 pounds and is covered in fluffy fur?

So our entire outbound calling system for the sales force is down. Not because of us and our servers but because Qwest has lost it's long distance service somehow. It's been a little over two hours and my entire team of phones sales people are getting kind of bored and punchy since most of them are taking vacation and on short time disease already.

Whee.

I had planned to double jack with people and listen to them make outbound calls since I have to sit in with everyone at least once a quarter...more if they're new...but that will not be happening. Isn't it alway the way. You clear up a day to accomplish something then something else happens to derail it. Pfft.

Hey all, this is kind of a call for help for a friend who some of you know and know his circumstances but it's also kind of a general call for help as well.

A friend of ours [info]steelerdaddy was in a car accident back on June 24th. I included the text from the newspaper below. He hopes to be out of the special care facility in the next two and a half weeks or so, then he'll be in rehab for a few months. The problem is he's bored and now his family is on one paycheck with kids while the legal matters get straightened out. As we all know that takes a while.

There's a super special on the DS system and three games so I've got someone to kick in with me on sending that. I also have some spare games that were bought for Liam that he doesn't like since they are more complicated than a 6 year old likes (plus they don't have dinosaurs battling to the death in them so what good are they?) That way when he's recovered it'll still get use from the kids as well.

But if there's anyone on the flist out there that would like to contribute I'd love to put anything we come up with on a walmart gift card for his family to use while they are scraping and waiting for all the legal matters to be settled.

I have a paypal but to be honest I'm a dork and don't know how to get payments through it so if you are interested you might have to walk me through it *g*

Thanks! Oh and I screened comments on this.

Phil’s dad died on Saturday. I got the call from Phil at work on Friday that he was in the hospital dying and someone needed to come pick up Liam from school so I sort of told the new boss on a drive by that ‘hadtogofatherinlawisdyingbye’. I’m not sure if my new boss thinks I’m a complete flake yet or not but I’m certainly working the airhead angle this year I swear.

He was bleeding internally and they had to do a few repairs in around the surgery site from his Whipple operation a year or so ago where he’d developed problems. Turned out he had several trouble spots including the artery that fed blood to the liver. There was an aneurysm and several clots. He went through 11 units of blood during surgery and he’d gone through more while they were trying to stabilize him initially on arrival at the hospital.

He came through the surgery and was awake enough to be demanding to go home right afterwards but of course he was way too sick so he stayed in the hospital and on Saturday afternoon he passed away. I think there were just too many strikes against him to start with since he’d had a recurrence of the cancer and more tumors removed. He was on chemo again and he never really did gain weight back after the original appearance of the pancreatic cancer when he had the drastic surgery and ultra aggressive chemo.

The funeral is Wednesday and I’ll take the time off to run Liam through his day and take care of him so Phil can do the funeral. He’s really only going to be support for his mom since he hates funerals about as much as I do. He doesn’t want her to go alone though. They may have been divorced for 30 years or so but there was still a connection of familiarity and some friendship between them so she’s a little broken up. He was the father of her only child and that seemed to be a bond between them even if they couldn’t stand being married to each other.

I don’t think Phil knows exactly how to feel yet and he’s kind of stumbling around waiting for a reaction from himself. I still have to tell Liam since he spent the weekend with Granny. He knows something is wrong from the way people have been acting but not anything specific. For the first time I’m kind of glad we had the death of a pet first because it was kind of a preparation for telling him someone he knew that was a person is gone even if he didn’t see him that often he did talk about him and mention him from time to time. Not looking forward to that part but we’re going to go shopping and he’ll get Roan a present to make him feel better. Roan was the grandchild living with Phil’s dad and Debbie and he will be the grandchild the most affected.
